In the photo above, Dr. Jim Harden shows a component from his MSPARC/8 cluster
to (from left) Dr. Don Trotter, Dr. Joe Thompson, and Dr. David Whitfield.
The MSPARC/8 was built using Sun Microsystems SPARCstation 2 workstations. The
motherboards from the systems were removed and inserted into a custom-built
chassis and used a custom midplane for probing. Four of the eight motherboards
are visible in this photo. The additional four boards are in the back of the
chassis.
The MSPARC/8 system used an additional SPARCstation for monitoring the probe data
that was collected via the midplane.
