| Biography: | David Thompson is an associate professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering. He is also an Associate Director for the Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems and the lead of the Computational Fluid Dynamics group. Prior to joining the academic faculty, he was on the research faculty at the Engineering Research Center. He previous related experience includes time on the faculty at the University of Texas at Arlington and in industry at General Dynamics/Ft. Worth Divsion (now Lockheed Martin).

| Research Interest: | Vortex dominated flows including unsteady flows, analysis of large computational fluid dynamics data sets using automated feature-detection and characterization techniques, automated mesh generation emphasizing the use of general polyhedral elements and solution adaptive meshing, fluid dynamics of biological systems, and aircraft icing, predicting both ice accretion and icing effects
