Demonstrators Information Packet
IEEE Visualization '96
Audience
Visualization '96 will bring together nearly 600 experts from around the world in the growing field of visualization
and its applications. This audience of innovators representing academia, business and government, purchases
and recommends advanced computer hardware and software for their organizations.
About the Conference
The conference is a five-day program that allows the attendees time to discuss and exchange ideas. These
people see the trends in their organizations and develop methods and applications that become standards.
The interaction has always been mentally stimulating since visualization research often inspires new products
that make advanced research possible.
Visualization of data and information is a vital research and applications frontier shared by a variety of
science, medical, engineering, business, and entertainment fields. The Seventh IEEE Visualization conference
focuses on interdisciplinary methods and supports collaboration among the developers and user of visualization
methods across all of science, engineering, medicine, and commerce.
The Conference Week will include tutorials, symposia, and mini-workshops Sunday through Tuesday, and a track
for papers with a parallel track for panels and case studies Wednesday through Friday.
Additionally, industry and local media will be invited to the conference.
Demonstrations will be held on Wednesday and Thursday during the conference.
Demonstration Structure
Visualization '96 is a unique opportunity to present you product to visualization experts from a wide variety of
fields. We invite applications for demonstrations of commercial hardware, software, integrated systems, peripherals,
and literature.
The conference encourages demonstrations to be more of a ``technical'' presentation as opposed to the typical
``marketing'' atmosphere that exists at other trade shows. The show floor is made up of 8x10 booths that are
usually represented by the developers of the product. The attendees will ask technical questions that will be more
advanced than the typical marketing representative can answer.
Research groups from academia and research labs are also invited to demonstrate their work at Visualization '96.
Proposals should summarize the work to be presented and identify the hardware/software platform required.
You will be allowed to utilize your company's trade show backdrop and will also be allowed to hand out your
marketing materials. Arrangements can also be made for private technical or Birds-of-a-Feather sessions
(e.g., Users' group meeting).
Demonstration Categories
Corporate Partners
Cost: $5,000

- Electrical power
- Two conference registrations
- Free exhibit only registration for your local customers
- Names and addresses of attendees
- Acknowledgement in the final program and proceedings
Corporate Demonstrations
Cost: $1,750
The demonstrations are informal presentations by companies and research organizations, as opposed to traditional
trade show style presentations. The goal is to emphasize research results, novel tools, new equipment, and new
applications.
Demonstrators will receive:
- Single table setup
- Electrical power
- One conference registration
- Exhibit-only passes
- Names and addresses of attendees
- Acknowledgement in the final program and proceedings
Corporate Support
Cost: $1,000
You can be associated with Visualization '96 as Corporate Support, providing the conference with your financial
assistance without the need to mount a demonstration.
As Corporate Support, you will receive:
- Acknowledgement of sponsorship in the final program
- Single copy of Vis'96 proceedings and conference videotape
- List of attendees with addresses
Non-Profit Demonstrators
Cost: $400
The Non-Profit Demonstrator is one whose organization does not sell any visualization products. Examples of
Non-Profit Demonstrators from academia, government, or industry are universities, NSF, government sites, and
companies whose products are not in any way visualization products.
Benefits of being a Non-Profit Demonstrator are:
- Single table setup
- Electrical power
Academic Institution Demonstrators
Cost: No Fee
This category is for academic institutions who do not sell any visualization products. A limited number of
spaces for these groups is available. Interested parties should fill out the registration form and submit
it with a description of their demonstration. The description should describe clearly the benefits of the
demonstration to Vis'96 attendees and the benefits of conference participation to the demonstrator. The
Demo Chair will invite academic institutions to demonstrate based on the quality of the proposed demonstration
and the availability of space. Academic Demonstrators receive a single table area with wall space and
electrical power. As with the other demonstrators, a main benefit to Academic Demonstrators will be the
opportunity to interact and possibly develop collaborations with other researchers, applications experts, and
visualization scientists.
As an Academic Institution Demonstrator, you will receive:
- Single table setup
- Electrical power
