Call for Demonstrations

Audience

Visualization 2000 will bring together nearly 600 experts from around the world in the growing field of visualization and its applications. This audience of innovators, representing academia, business and government, purchases and recommends advanced computer hardware and software for their organizations. Demonstrations are held on Wednesday and Thursday of the five-day conference program. Additional symposia and tutorials are held on Sunday through Tuesday of the conference week.

About the Conference

The conference is a five-day program that allows the attendees time to discuss and exchange ideas. These people see the trends in their organizations and develop methods and applications that become standards. The interaction has always been mentally stimulating since visualization research often inspires new products that make advanced research possible.

Visualization of data and information is a vital research and applications frontier shared by a variety of science, medical, engineering, business, and entertainment fields. The IEEE Visualization 2000 conference focuses on interdisciplinary methods and supports collaboration among the developers and users of visualization methods across all of science, engineering, medicine, and commerce. The Conference Week will include tutorials, symposia, and mini-workshops Sunday through Tuesday, and a track for papers with a parallel track for panels and case studies Wednesday through Friday.

Additionally, industry and local media will be invited to the conference.

Demonstrations will be held on Wednesday and Thursday during the conference.

Demonstration Structure

Visualization 2000 is a unique opportunity to present your product to visualization experts from a wide variety of fields. We invite applications for demonstrations of commercial hardware, software, integrated systems, peripherals, and literature.

The conference encourages demonstrations to be more of a "technical" presentation as opposed to the typical "marketing" atmosphere that exists at other trade shows. The show floor is made up of 8 x 10 booths that are usually represented by the developers of the product. The attendees will ask technical questions that will be more advanced than the typical marketing representative can answer.

Research groups from academia and research labs are also invited to demonstrate their work at Visualization 2000. Proposals should summarize the work to be presented and identify the hardware/software platform required.

You will be allowed to hand out your marketing materials. Arrangement can also be made for private technical or Birds-of-a-Feather sessions (e.g., Users' group meeting).

Demonstration Categories:

Corporate Partners Cost: $5000

Our Corporate Partners will have a place of prominence at Visualization 2000, as we acknowledge their support of the conference and its goals.

The benefits of corporate partnerships are:

  • Two table setup in the demonstration area
  • Electrical power
  • One conference registration with proceedings, videotapes, and CD
  • One Sunday-Monday-Tuesday passport (does not include proceedings or notes)
  • Ten free exhibit only registration for your local customers
  • Up to five demonstration staff badges that include a ticket to the reception
  • Names and addresses of attendees
  • Acknowledgement in the final program and proceedings

Corporate Demonstrations Cost: $1750

The demonstrations are informal presentations by companies and research organizations, as opposed to traditional trade show style presentations. The goal is to emphasize research results, novel tools, new equipment, and new applications.

Demonstrators will receive:

  • Single table setup
  • Electrical Power
  • One conference registration with proceedings, videotapes, and CD
  • One Sunday-Monday-Tuesday passport (does not include proceedings or notes)
  • Ten free exhibit only registration for your local customers
  • Up to five demonstration staff badges that include a ticket to the reception
  • Names and addresses of attendees
  • Acknowledgement in the final program and proceedings

Corporate Support Cost: $1000

You can be associated with Visualization 2000 as Corporate Support, providing the conference with your financial assistance without the need to mount a demonstration.

As Corporate Support you will receive:

  • Acknowledgement of sponsorship in the final program
  • One copy of the Vis 2000 proceedings and conference videotapes
  • List of attendees with addresses

Non-Profit Demonstrators Cost: $400

The Non-Profit Demonstrator is one whose organization does not sell any visualization products. Examples of Non-Profit Demonstrators from academia, government, or industry are universities, NSF, government sites, and companies whose products are not in any way visualization products.

Benefits of being a Non-Profit Demonstrator are:

  • Single table setup
  • Electrical power
  • No complementary registration
  • Up to two demonstration staff badges that include a ticket to the reception

Publishers Display Cost: $200

This venue allows publishers to display their visualization-related publications during the conference demonstrations. Parties that are interested need to send their book(s) to the demonstration chair two weeks before the conference. The demonstration co-chairs will arrange a table with book displays in the demonstration area.

Benefits of displaying your books at the conference:

  • Expose your books to the world's leading visualization experts
  • No hassle in sending representatives to the conference

Academic Institution Demonstrators: No Fee

This category is for academic institutions that do not sell any visualization products. A limited number of spaces for these groups are available. Interested parties should fill out the registration form and submit it with a description of their demonstration. The description should describe clearly the benefits of the demonstration to Vis 2000 attendees and the benefits of conference participation to the demonstrator. The Demo Co-chairs will invite academic institutions to demonstrate based on the quality of the proposed demonstration and the availability of space. Academic Demonstrators receive a single table area with wall space and electrical power.

As with the other demonstrators, a main benefit to Academic Demonstrators will be the opportunity to interact and possibly develop collaborations with other researchers, applications experts, and visualization scientists.

  • Single table setup
  • Electrical Power

Commercial demonstrators confirmed before June 1, 2000 will be announced in the Advance Program. Demonstration Proposals will be accepted until the space available is filled. The earlier you commit, the more visibility your demonstrations will have in the conference publicity.
