Emily McCabe, a graduate student in Mississippi State's Department of Mechanical Engineering, was recently selected as the recipient of the distinguished Leonard P. Gollobin scholarship by the I/ITSEC Annual Post Graduate Scholarships and Conference.

McCabe is a graduate research assistant in mechanical engineering, where she studies the physical simulation and characterization of novel additive manufacturing methods. She was one of just two students nationwide to be selected for the Gollobin scholarship.

McCabe said that she believes her graduate research along with her community service and campus involvement improved her application.

According to the I/ITSEC website, the Leonard P. Gollobin Graduate scholarship was established to help "direct students developing their technical talents into the defense industry." The scholarship is administered by the National Training & Simulation Association and "provides financial support for those seeking advanced degrees and a path to leverage their commitment to strengthen our nation's security."

McCabe was inducted into the Bagley College of Engineering Student Hall of Fame in 2019. She currently serves as the Assistant Director for Project ENspire, which facilitates engineering projects in K-12 Outreach.

The I/ITSEC scholarships are intended to support students who are dedicated to engineering innovation. The motivation behind the scholarships is to fund and support the engineering students of today who will become the engineering leaders of tomorrow. This conference is hosted by the NTSA (National Training and Simulation Association).

"The conference is meant to broaden our engineering network and to formally present our awards," McCabe said.
