Fitzpatrick et al. (2011) investigated the contributions of maximum sustained 10-m winds, storm size, and translation speed to storm surge for five idealized bathymetry profiles based on simulations using the ADvanced CIRCulation model. This talk provides further analysis of these factors using basic storm surge diagnostics. A scale based on these factors developed by Fitzpatrick et al. (2011) is also validated against 58 years of storm surge observations.
