With advances in computer science, more and more technologies have been introduced into ergonomic study. The methodology, Virtual Build, integrating digital human modeling, motion capture and virtual reality demonstrates itself a promising solution for ergonomic design. However, with more and more applications of this methodology, there is not yet a published study to evaluate the validity and reliability. This study focuses on validation of the Virtual Build methodology for automotive manufacturing. The test-retest reliability, alternative reliability and the validity correlation are tested. The result of this study is essential for justifying the use of this new methodology in automotive manufacturing, for design. Also it provides direction for future improvement.
