The Impact of Terra, Aqua, TRMM, AVHRR, and Dropsonde Data on Hurricane Lili Simulations. 10th Symposium on Integrated Observing and Assimilation Systems for the Atmosphere, Oceans, and Land Surface, American Meteorological Society. Atlanta, GA.

A study of Hurricane Lili\'s rapid intensification and rapid weakening periods on October 2 and 3, 2002 is conducted. The analysis technique conducts sensitivity studies of thermodynamic and SST forcing from Aqua, Terra, AVHRR, TRMM, and dropsonde data in a 6-hr cycling mode in MM5. 4DVAR experiments are also performed. Results of the individual and cumulative impact of dry air intrusion, wind shear, warm eddies, and cold shelf water are discussed.
